Catherine takes inspiration from nature and man-made detritus to fuel an integrated, multidisciplinary studio and plein air practice of painting, mixed media works, photography, sculpture and installation. She seeks to connect and contextualize the present to the greater continuum of time and lived experience through her work. Paying close, patient attention is intrinsic to Catherine’s process in all mediums, as is the embrace of imperfection, and an abiding quest for visual harmony.
BACKGROUND
Catherine has lived, worked and been mesmerized by the light in San Francisco, California since 1995. Time spent in the natural and industrial landscapes of the midwest, West Virginia and western Massachusetts are also foundational influences.
